Love in a Waffle House | January 20, 2010

While wasting time one morning last summer, I found myself sitting in a Waffle House having coffee. An unexpected and unusual trip landed me in a booth with a birds-eye view of the whole joint. I felt comfortable in the retro vibe and lured in by the odd aroma of bacon cooking and the lingering smell of cleaning agents.  There was such a somber mood shared by the staff and patrons alike. We were all in one small place and yet completely alone in our own little worlds.

In such a ho hum environment where people go about their morning routine, … Read More »

Quantity CAN equal quality. My son is one of those kids who smiles for pictures- AFTER the flash has gone off.  Missing … Read More »

Color Me Fall | November 3, 2009

Recently, I had the opportunity to shoot a day in a real pumpkin patch. You know the kind that has the vines and pumpkins attached to them, not the fabricated side of the road pumpkin patch, this was the real deal!

Livesay Orchards is in Porter, Oklahoma and is open just about year round with so many fabulous things for families to do and enjoy.  Livesay Orchards is family owned and operated. The Livesays are great salt of the earth people and have had my heart for years. And for good reason they have attracted the likes of Southern Living Magazine … Read More »

Fired At Forty | October 6, 2009

Fired at Forty

Being a photographer in this day and age, is not the easiest of professions. The ever changing deluge of technology has kept me on the fast track of learning. Instead of pacer car at the Indy 500, it often feels like lift off at Cape Canaveral. I dearly adore my work and embrace any challenge.

This year I had the good fortune of shooting people and places and events that one could only dream of. In doing so, I found myself in situations and experiences I have not encountered in my younger years and  I have to laugh that … Read More »

South African Photographer Seeks Perfect Shot | November 25, 2008

Originally from a small farming community in the heart of Zululand, Kelly Badenhorst’s childhood in Melmoth, South Africa, was filled with wide open spaces and lots of exploring and adventure.  She moved down to the coast, to the “big” city of Durban where she completed a diploma in Desktop Publishing and worked my way up to the job she holds today with an IT company.

Her love for photography started with her trusty little Nikon point & shoot many years ago. I would enter my pictures in online competitions to see what response I got, the feedback was usually positive and … Read More »

Photographer Captures The Colors Of Nature | November 5, 2008

For Sharleen Heist, photography began as a hobby and quickly became a passion. A gift from her husband, she received first camera because she wanted to take better pictures of her children. I don’t think he knew what he was starting!

Sharleen’s first camera used film and as a result she would carefully consider every picture she took. My pictures although good, were predictable. Switching to digital has enabled her to explore new techniques and perspectives. Her work is constantly evolving, that’s what keeps her hooked. She loves a good challenge and photography always seems to provide her with one.

French Photographer Hired By Top Models | October 29, 2008

Nicolas Normand only started to photograph bees in my garden and urban landscapes less than two years ago.  Soon he back taking pictures of people for modeling portfolios. I tried to develop my own vision of photography, doing original things.  I don’t have a “style”… I work on ideas which look nice to photograph.  I learn by myself how to photograph, trying to improve each time.  I can easily work on a cute project or on a dark and shocking one. Often, I like to tell a short story in my pics. I love to work colors too. We can … Read More »
