Emerge from the Dark Side | February 17, 2011

Sometimes, we don’t understand just how dark it is until we start to see the light.

As children, society tells us that there are certain things we can and cannot do.  Rewards and recognition may have come with ultimatums (‘If you don’t get better grades, I’ll be so angry with you.  You’ll never go anywhere in life if you don’t hang out with this group of kids, and such). Perhaps we were flat-out told to do something in order to make someone else happy (Darling, marry a rich man who can support you – you know, that sort of thing).

We thus … Read More »

Repeat After Me: “I Resolve to Take Action on my New Year’s Resolutions” | January 13, 2011

By Lisa Montanaro

Ah, New Year’s Resolutions. They come but once per year, and cause quite a stir. Indeed, people talk about their New Year’s Resolutions quite freely. A small portion of people even write them down. But how many truly achieve them? The number is probably dismally small. Why? Because most people do a great job of talking about their resolutions, but don’t do such a great job of taking action on them. They often set themselves up for failure by biting off more than they can chew!

Take, for example, the most … Read More »

Freight Train | April 24, 2009

Recently I was listening to a CD in my husband’s car. I was about to turn off the music because I concentrate better in a quiet driving state. But suddenly I heard the lyrics for the first time. I sing the song all the time yet had never really absorbed the words or the story being told.

Lyrics to Breakdown by Jack Johnson :

I hope this old train breaks downthen I could take a walk aroundand, see what there is to seeand time is just a melodyall the people in the streetwalk as fast as their feet can take themI … Read More »

Wisdom: Be Honest With Yourself | March 10, 2009

*Every time we rely on someone or something outside of us to provide us with love, success or happiness, we hand our power over. As soon as they don’t provide it we are defeated.

Ironically, when we decide to have love, success and happiness, we easily attract the people, events and objects that enhance this state.

As you continue to decide what matters most, be honest with yourself.
Stop ignoring the urge to get on with the work you know you should do or to finally redefine relationship: That whisper you keep hearing is the universe trying to get your attention. Make … Read More »

Formula for Success | February 23, 2009

The winners in life know the rules of the game and have a plan. Whether you’re looking to heal a relationship, get a new job, lose weight or find inner peace, consider these characteristics which Dr. Phil says are common to people who succeed.

Have a vision.
Champions get what they want because they know what they want. They have a vision that keeps them motivated and efficiently on track. They see it, feel it, and experience it in their minds and hearts. What is success for you? You won’t get there without knowing what it feels and looks like.

Make a strategy.

Living The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success | January 28, 2009

What Is Success?

“Success in life could be defined as the continued expansion of happiness
and the progressive realization of worthy goals.
Success is the ability to fulfill your desires with effortless ease. “
- Deepak Chopra

Success is a topic I’ve spent many hours pondering and I’ve come to realize that it is so much more than just material wealth. Material wealth is only a small portion of your collective success potential. It is an experience as part of our journey as spiritual beings and yes, material wealth may make this journey more comfortable, but let’s not neglect the other dimensions of success: the … Read More »

The Best Way To Predict The Future: Create It | January 23, 2009

Many people have a fitness goal that they want to achieve.

You can achieve your goal if you follow these four simple steps.

1. Focus

Focus on one goal at a time, one month at a time.

To achieve a goal you will need to establish a new habit.
This will require consistent, attentive, new behavior.

One key is to make your new daily habit easy to achieve.

For example, if your goal is to get more consistent with your exercise routine
and you are currently exercising 3-days a week, set a goal to exercise an
additional 2-days per week and decide the times and days that you will … Read More »

LESSONS LEARNED | December 9, 2008

1. People aren’t always what they seem. Some have hidden agendas that you may never see until you have invested your time and energy into them, only to be disappointed.

2. Sometimes people can’t express love in the same way as you can and they are often thought of as not loving you. Understanding that everyone is different helps you to understand your own capacity to love and not put expectations on someone else to fulfill you.

3. Experience and maturity are two different things. Just because a person has achieved a certain age, does not mean they have achieved the same … Read More »

Decisions, Decisions…. | November 24, 2008

Every day, each of us makes many choices that will impact our lives.

Some will lead us straight to success, while others will bring us face-to-face with failure. It is imperative for each of us to know, no matter how large or small, easy or difficult, each choice that we make alters the direction of our lives.

I once heard motivational speaker Tony Robbins say, “Quality questions create a quality life.”

Ask yourself:

Would this choice make you feel good about yourself, or would it make you feel unempowered, ashamed, or embarrassed?

What commitments are these choices in direct alignment with?

Will this choice drive … Read More »
