Soft Winter Hands | December 30, 2010

I dread the dead of winter and from handrails to high-fives, it seems that every thing we touch requires a good hand washing afterward to stay healthy and germ-free. While regular soap and water sessions are necessary to combat germs, frequent hand washing can cause dryness and irritation, making our hands clean but uncomfortable and, in severe cases, susceptible to infection.

Eliminate dryness and irritation by soothing hands post-wash with the new natural and affordable (seed) Healthy Hand Cream, which features a blend of seed-based ingredients, rich in … Read More »

Hydrate Winter Skin | December 20, 2010

Winter officially begins December 21st however if your skin is like mine, it is already a bit dry.  Dry, itchy winter skin is very pleasant.  Scratching leads to greater irritation, continued cracking and possible infections.  During the winter, skin requires extra protected to keep it soft, supple and moisturized.

Here are some tips I use to help me combat dry, itchy winter skin:

Take Warm Showers! Hot water feels wonderful but it make skin feel dry and can further irritate already dry skin.

Exfoliate! Slough off dead, dry skin that creates a barrier preventing moisturizers from penetrating.  I prefer to use a homemade … Read More »

Eye Makeup Trends for Fall/Winter 2011 | October 26, 2010

This image is from the Junko Yoshioka s/s 2011 fashion show at Trump Tower. I kept the look very glamorous, yet simple. Here are some big trends for makeup for fall/winter 2011, and most likely the trends will stay around for summer of 2011 (with some small modifications, of course.)

1. The biggest trend in makeup: focus on the lashes and the top eyeliner! In this picture I have individual false lashes on the model (mainly on the outer corner of her eye). I also used 3 layers of mascara (carefully applied) to really make the lashes look lustrous. I did … Read More »

Does Cold Weather Make You Store Body Fat? | February 17, 2010

By Tom Venuto, Author of The Body Fat Solution: Five Principles for Burning Fat, Building Lean Muscle, Ending Emotional Eating, and Maintaining Your Perfect Weight

Do you get fatter in the cold weather? It’s a good question right now, and the answer is yes!

First there’s the psychological explanation: in warm climates, people are wearing less clothes and enjoying the outdoors and people want to look good when they’re exposing more flesh! In the cold, you’re covered up, so there’s less self-consciousness and no public accountability. Therefore, most people tend to stay on a diet more diligently and train harder … Read More »
