Yvette Rose: Joulebody for the body, mind, and soul | January 19, 2012

“The way I see detoxing is a gentle change of routine that moves our body processes into their most optimum operating function,” Rose states. “Whenever we change our habit we pull ourselves out ruts. And there is nothing certain in life but change.” What is proven is that certain foods make our bodies perform in certain ways. “It’s the old garbage in, garbage out theory,” she laughs. “And no one needs a double blind study to trust that.” For those who pay even the smallest amount of attention to their bodies, it’s obvious that when one ingests nutritious stuff, the body … Read More »

Tales from the Yoga Studio | March 16, 2011

The yoga studio is where daily cares are set aside, mats are unfurled, and physical exertion leads to well-being, renewal, and friendship.

In Los Angeles, yoga teachers have become celebrities and designer tank tops can cost a small fortune.  Still, many students flock to the relatively unglamorous Edendale Yoga in the hip, out-of-the-way Silver Lake neighborhood.  It’s here where Lee uses her extraordinary teaching skills and unusual empathy to help students gain control of their bodies and possibly their lives as well.

Katherine, the studio’s resident masseuse, is trying hard not to sabotage what could be the perfect relationship. Graciela, is … Read More »

As a former personal trainer I know the frustrations that woman go through wanting to get rid of cellulite.  While you can’t get rid of cellulite, you certainly can tame it without invasive surgery.  Recent research has found two treatments that have shown progress.  One is called TriActive.  TriActive is a noninvasive treatment that combines a three prong approach, low-energy laser, a cooling suction and massage has had successful results. Ageless Beauty – 4 Tips to the Fountain of Youth and Keep Them Guessing! | December 14, 2010

“How old are you? You look really young.  You’re about 30? 35? I’ll wait until you get up from the table so I can see your body.  That will tell me.” (Personal Correspondence)

The above is what was said to me a few days ago while out with a group of girl friends.  Wow! First, I must say, thank you to my parents for the good genes!  Second, I am so very glad that I work-out regularly as I know that being physically active and eating food that is good for my body and soul (chocolate!) is the fountain of youth.  … Read More »

Escape to Shape | February 8, 2010

How many of you made the same New Year’s resolution AGAIN this year- to lose weight? (Yes, my hand is up too!) The question really is…have you started doing it yet? (For me, the answer would be NO!) Well how about jet setting somewhere incredible and beautiful, having an amazing vacation, and coming back five to ten pounds skinnier? OK, I officially sound like an infomercial now, but all kidding aside, Escape to Shape is the answer.

Escape to Shape considers itself a traveling fitness spa. Basically, the program includes a vacation to a fantastic locale with luxurious accommodations, a total-body … Read More »

Yoga Poses For Detoxing | October 24, 2009

Powered by ONO Energizer Yogi, a delicious pomegranate black tea from the ONO Yogalates Collection. A good yoga practice stretches and compresses every part of the body to keeping the waste-removal departments (circulatory, digestive, and lymphatic systems) of the body functioning well. I like these poses because they are easy and they help to push, pull, and twist my body. Not only does it feel great, but these poses also help facilitate the removal of waste products.

Pose #1 – Downward Facing Dog:

Downward Facing Dog

INSTRUCTIONS: Sit up tall with your legs straight. Bend your right knee and bring the sole of your right … Read More »
