Jewelry Created to Reflect Your Style

Today's jewelry interview focuses on the multi-talented Susan Nelson of Capitolagirl Jewelry.  I asked Susan to share with Chic Galleria readers some history, philosophy and wisdom about herself and her jewelry.  I think you will enjoy her story!

I started making beaded jewelry as a hobby in 2004. I had recently quit my full-time job as a technical writer in the Silicon Valley, because I was at a place where I really wanted to find myself more content, in terms of my work/life balance. I made a decision to make myself available to work in my professional job strictly part-time for awhile, and when I was not doing that, I would commit myself to exploring some of the creative pursuits that I'd always been wanting to try. A friend taught me how to create a simple wire-wrapped loop that same year, and I was instantly hooked on beading and jewelry making. I think I made 250 pairs of earrings within days of learning how to wrap loops.

I want my jewelry pieces to be fun and feminine, as well to present women of all ages with a diverse scope and range of choices. When I am working on a piece, I feel confident and good about myself because I am doing something that I love to do. So, my hope when creating is that one day a piece I made, might help the woman who is wearing it feel confident and good about herself too. I try to create pieces that stand out and complement a variety of personalities, as we all have our own individual senses of style. Jewelry choices tend to be very personal and reflective of who we are as women, and our tastes change as we evolve over time. So, my vision is that my collections and creations be perceived as eclectic.
