il_430xN_24157728.jpgMichelle Perkett is an artist who believes that the world can always use more happiness, kindness, color and inspiration!

"My professional art career started when I joined the Air Force and worked for four years active duty as a graphic designer stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii," says Michelle. "After that I worked in the corporate world as a graphic designer for 10 years and finally went back to school full-time and earned my BFA degree in 2000 from Cal State Fullerton where I developed my current style of pen and ink/digital color."

"I started "Michelle Perkett Studio" with 12 designs in 2004, had a small gallery showing, designed my website and I was on my way! I began selling my art to gift stores around the country from 2005-2007."

"In 2008 I started selling my art on Etsy and Imagekind and began the art of blogging on artist networking sites and in September 2008 I started my personal blog, "Enchanted Inspirations", where I post inspirational stories, new artwork, sketches and give updates on items for sale at my Etsy shop and art show appearances."

"My line will be expanding in 2009 to include more spiritual goddesses with inspirational messages, more whimsical holiday designs and a line of prints with words of peace, love happiness, harmony and inspiration which is how I try to live my life and hope that I share a little of that along the way with people who see my art. My dream is to be a successful inspirational artist and to share a positive message to the world through my art and words."

"My favorite experience as an artist, other than creating new images, is hearing positive words about my work from people who comment on my blog and from people I meet in my booth at art fairs. I also enjoy going to other artist's blogs to see they're work and to read about their creative processes, dreams and passion for art."

"I would like to license my artwork in the future for use on cards, gifts and children's products and am pursuing that direction now."

"I finally found my calling and my true creative passion a the age of 43 and learned that it's okay to be a "late bloomer!" I wouldn't change a thing and am so grateful to be an artist who shares peace, love, happiness and inspiration!"

A great inspirational post. What a background! :) Going after your dreams can be scary but well worth it. It sure can take some of us time, but we only get better with time :)

Great article! I love what you said and it truly fits you.

Michelle's art is beautiful. I find her story very inspiring, especially because she calls herself a 'late bloomer'. Don't we artists have to ripe in order to compose well-rounded crafts?
All the best to Michelle.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and for reading the article. I appreciate your support!

Michelle :)

Michelle's art is inspirational and beautiful..... as is she. One of the most beautiful people I have ever met. (And funny, too!)
