Laura: Which hairstyles look best on long (past shoulder length) hair?
Frederic: It's all about volume and texture. Gone are the days of stick-straight tresses. Many women don't have time to blow out or flat iron their hair so they have started to embrace their natural hair texture which is easier with long hair styles. The look is loose and sexy, yet neat and polished.
Laura: Is there a particular cut that flatters most face shapes for long hair?
Frederic: Long hair that's all one length, when blow-dried properly, is chic and sophisticated for most face shapes. Also, long layers can look fabulous, provided they're long enough to blend in naturally to frame the face.
No matter your hair length, it's always important to take proper care of your hair, using products that are appropriate for your hair texture and any scalp related issues you might be facing. Dry shampoo always works if you're pressed for time and it makes for fabulous up-do's as it creates the desired texture needed to help hair stay in place.
I happen to think that long hair can be appropriate at any age, if well taken care of with frequent trims, conditioning and clarifying shampoos to avoid product buildup. Don't listen to the nay-sayers who claim you can't wear long hair after a certain age or if you're in a certain job, blah, blah, blah. Show the world your long lovely tresses for as long as they make you happy.
Long hair is lovely; take it from Frederic!
