A great part about this line is the eco-chic factor. The line uses sustainable, organic and/or repurposed fabrics without sacrificing style. The line also uses recycled PET satin, made from recycled soda bottles, to line many of its pieces.

My ultimate fav was the leather dress, I just have to have it. Not to mention the show also brought a popular NYC crowd including Tia Walker, Jen Marden, and New York Housewife Alex McCord. I wonder what piece they will be picking up?

This season the innovative designer transformed a raw gallery space in New York City's meatpacking district into a live rock concert scene featuring a performance by French girl band Plastiscines and styled by Stacey's longtime friends Anda and Masha.

Following the success of the past themed presentations "alice in wonderland", "breakfast in bed", "hippy queen" and Mick Rock photo gallery at alice + olivia's Bryant Park Store, Stacey once again spun a stylish tale through the music of the Plastiscines, enlisting the band to perform and promote the playful mood of the collection. Both the band and the runway models, posing as adoring fans, showcased the designers' spring looks.

Stacey's inspiration for her spring 2010 collection was "the power of the female". She wanted to represent girls "predicating sexuality, cleverness and charm" by combining influence from all the women who influence her every day. Keeping her feminine side in mind, she set about to create a collection she describes as "playful with an edge". The designer often credits her line as catering to every kind of woman; creating clothes that are meant to make a woman feel both sexy and sweet. After seeing the Plastiscines' "Barcelona" video, Stacey decided that there was no better way to bring her spring collection to life than with a performance by the band. The band exudes a "candy punk vibe" that is in tune with alice + olivia's cleverly unique style.

Chic structured dresses in pale pinks, purples and neutrals are mixed with the brand's traditional black and white colors. Small floral prints, embellished tops and structured jackets with cut out details define the flirty and inventive collection. alice + olivia also showcased their basics line featuring t-shirts and button-downs in soft, butter-like fabrics, linens and metallics. This season alice + olivia also unveils their latest collaboration with the jewelry line Erickson Beamon and their continued partnership with Payless, featuring fashion-forward footwear for spring.

Spring 2010 also marks the launch of alice + olivia's premiere high-end collection. The new line was created to add more diversity for their specialty stores and allow customers to have a more unique alice + olivia shopping experience. The collection consists of hand worked pieces that use luxurious materials and detailed craftsmanship. These edgy and inventive designs are available as part of a limited edition collection.

As always, the imaginative and edgy collection reflects Stacey's lifestyle, as the ever busy designer continues to live bi-coastally and is mom to ten-month old daughter Eloise Breckenridge Eisner. Stacey views life and fashion as synonymous, and continues to find ways to creatively blend the two elements. With a chic spring collection brought to life by the Plasticines music, alice + olivia pushes the boundaries of art and fashion.

alice + olivia's spring 2010 collection presentation featured a performance by French girl band, the Plastiscines. Hairstyles created by Frederic Fekkai. Makeup created by MAC.
Visit http://www.aliceandolivia.com

CELEBRITIES/VIPS IN ATTENDANCE

Anna Lynne McCord, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Greene, Mena Suvari, Shenae Grimes, Kelly Rutherford, Nicky Hilton, Kristin Cavallari, Jared Leto, Stephanie Pratt, Joanna Garcia, Jill Zarin, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Tinsley Mortimer, Dabney Mercer Gaghan, Leven Rambin, Gail Simmons, Fabiola Beracasa, Eleanor Ylvisaker, and Erin Lucus.

The HP Vivienne Tam digital clutch marries two cultures - fashion and technology - to reflect transformative spirit and chic lifestyle. Inspired by the classic Chinese love story concerto "Butterfly Lovers," the design features elegant butterflies that are brought to life on a champagne gold backdrop. The HP Vivienne Tam digital clutch will be available in Spring 2010.

The HP Vivienne Tam Special Edition notebook represents the first time a computer company has partnered with a globally renowned designer to create a notebook PC that offers all the style and power needed for a delightful technology experience. Tam also worked with HP to design the notebook's accessories and packaging.

"When I was approached by HP to create a special edition notebook, I could see the design in my head instantly," said Tam. "The notebook is a true reflection of the needs of a modern woman who cares about fashion but is also passionate about her technology. I wanted to create a notebook that would appeal to women of all ages, ethnicities and income levels across the globe."

The top of the notebook is gleaming red and bursting with peony flowers. The peony design is meticulously carried inside the notebook, under the keypad. The notebook also features a complementary embroidered storage sleeve that helps keep the exterior protected while being carried as a clutch.

The peony design features a unique blend of Asian and Western cultures, antiquity and modern style, technology and fashion. It was inspired by Tam's "China Chic" style, which is recognized from the runways in Milan to the Olympics in Beijing and represents her personal mantra to live well and be beautiful.

"The peony is the national flower of China. They are beautiful and symbolize prosperity, good fortune and happiness," said Tam. "Their many layers are similar to a modern woman who is as savvy in expressing herself with her personal style as she is with weaving technology into the fabric of her rich and multi-faceted life."

"With 'China Chic,' Vivienne Tam reinterpreted traditional Chinese art into a global fashion trend," said Satjiv Chahil, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP. "With her spring collection, Tam has helped HP take the personal computer from a necessity to a lifestyle and fashion 'must have.'" Visit www.viviennetam.com and www.hp.com.

Photos courtesy of www.NYMag.com and www.hp.com.

While my fellow high school students struggled over decisions of where to go to college and what to major in, I always knew exactly where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. I applied early admission to my college, got accepted soon after and never applied anywhere else. I chose to go to the University of Cincinnati School of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning because it was in state and had relatively cheap tuition (I had to pay for college myself) and it also offered the co-op program where you would get work experience while still in school. I chose to take advantage of this opportunity and worked to get internships with Anna Sui, Zac Posen, Victoria's Secret... and then traveled to London where I worked at Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood as well as attended Central Saint Martins. Hall.

Medieval romance, young adult ghost stories, and a non-fiction novel on adoption - writing is in my blood. It is, as the tragic comic book heroes say, what I do.

I was cleaning out my office a few weeks ago, determined to toss the clutter before I was overtaken by piles of books, papers, cocktail napkins (with fabulous if unreadable notes scribbled over the wine stains) and manila file folders. The mess was one match away from a blaze.

It seems I've been toiling away at this writing gig since I was 7. I found a story my mom had saved that I'd written on construction paper about an ant named Blip. Journalistic brilliance. Though rough, the story had a beginning, a middle and an end.

It's true that the spelling was awful. I didn't color in the lines, and my ant looked more like a potato with eyes - but the pacing was quick, and there was a happy ending.

I love a happy ending.

According to Publisher's Weekly, so do a lot of people. Romance books sales are up, as are young adult novels. In this economy, people want inexpensive but explosive entertainment. More bang for the buck.

With downsizing, it might be harder to find every new release on the local bookseller's shelves, but thanks to Amazon, it's easy to order your favorite authors online. If you are feeling 'green', most publishing houses offer titles in ebook format for the Kindle or Sony e readers. These are the next big technological gadgets.

Back to my story telling genius.

It took me over thirty years to publish a book. In those stacks of papers I'd been collecting, I found rejection letters from 1993. First drafts of stories that never saw an editor's desk. As I blew the dust off of my personal memorabilia, I felt sick. How could I throw this stuff away?

I have seven books published. I've won contests and gotten rave reviews. I have achieved a good chunk of my dream, and my eye is on the future. So what is my weird attachment to all of this junk? After walking around the newly organized piles as if they were a ticking bomb, I had an epiphany.

Each crumpled cocktail napkin was an idea that still had a chance. The stacks of single-spaced half-finished stories represent steps I'd taken toward a goal. Colored with brown and yellow crayons, my writer's journey is contained within the chaos of files and stacks.

As sentimentally important as a baby's lock of hair, my junk deserved better than to be piled and ignored. I chose instead to invest in plastic storage boxes. My office is no longer a fire hazard, and my memories are labeled. I still pile, but inside a plastic tub with the date on the outside. I found organization much easier once I crated the chaos!

LOVE'S MAGIC by Traci E. Hall

Celestia Montehue is the misfit in a legacy bound family. The only thing she has in common with her ancestors is her magical healing ability. Nicholas Le Blanc, a monastery raised knight, is captured while on crusade and forced to kill for his freedom. Can the healer save the broken man, or will his family's curse doom them both?

You may purchase a copy of Love's Magic

ADOPTION IS FOREVER by Traci E. Hall and Rhonda Pollero

Adoption doesn't end when the papers are signed, not for the birth mother, not for the adoptive mother and not for the adopted child. It is a decision with consequences that last a lifetime.

You may purchase a copy of Adoption is Forever

HER WICCAN, WICCAN WAYS by Traci E. Hall

Rhiannon Godfrey is a psychic prodigy, but her parents don't see things her way. They think she needs a "normal" high school experience-she wants to stay in trendy Vegas. In the small farming town of Crystal Lake, being Wiccan doesn't exactly help the Godfreys blend in.

You may purchase a copy of Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways (Rhiannon Godfrey)

Traci Hall is a member of Florida Romance Writers, where she got her start as a 'real' writer. Cincinnati is home base for now but NYC forever has our heart.

DDR: How did the brand M641 get started?

M641: My dear friend, now business partner, Subu and I had long discussions over wine about how amazing her idea was to one day have her own label. Since she was brought up in the fashion industry, and I had a truly corporate background, it became a great fit! We wanted to fit the needs of women who were like us, possibly mommies, travelers, socialites, businesswomen. From there, we both agreed that we would use the button-down shirt - an All American classic, and sprinkle in the best of India - to pay homage to Subu's heritage. So, fabulous colors, exotic cottons, luxe trims and embroideries were the focus of M641 designs. And there we were - just two gal pals sitting around strategizing about the launch of their dream biz (mostly while our little ones napped or were down for the night by the way!) And in 2007 our dream was realized and we launched our first Collection that Spring!

DDR: How would you describe M641, what are the favorite pieces in the Fall Collection?

M641: As we are inspired by the female form and the many various hats women wear, we describe ourselves as 'girlfriend chic'. You know that cool tunic or dress you and your girlfriends would adore! We are more mainstream and not runway couture. 'Memorable High Fashion' if you will. Our favorite Fall '09 pieces from our Independence Rising Collection are our 'Taking Tonight tunic' with a sequin self sash (see photos), the plaid flannel 'Freedom Waist jacket' with a sequin tab at the back and the 'Self Sufficient button down' with a metallic hidden zari tape at the button panel.

DDR: What celebrities would you love see in M641 on the red carpet?

M641: We sincerely feel that Kate Hudson, Blake Lively and our favorite brit rocker Joss Stone have that M641 vibe going on.

DDR: Tell us the plans for the future for M641 and where would you like to see the line in 10 years?

M641: Well you'll see in our upcoming SS10 collection, that we've dabbled in different fabrications - veering off from our signature woven cottons a bit, to include some chiffons, knits and such. It's truly our most prized Collection to date. And, while many brands do strive to be in department stores, we truly feel at home in the brick and mortar specialty boutiques. In 10 years (likely sooner) we should be found in the likes of larger specialty retail chains such as Scoop NYC for example.

DDR: Where can we purchase the M641 collection?

M641: We can be found online exclusively at www.smashingdarling.com/store/m641 and at various boutiques across the country - oh and in Australia! Whoo hoo we're International baby! Like to see us in a particular boutique...just let us know!

DDR: Ok we actually have one more question.. Is M641 on "Twitter" who is your fav to follow and... hit us up with how to follow you?

M641: We are on Twitter! Christopher Drummond, makeup artist and creator of Christopher Drummond Beauty shares his advice on how to get gorgeously glowing skin, without looking like a hot oily mess.

How does a girl avoid looking greasy when applying shimmer? It starts with the "shimmer" you are using. If it is low-grade or if they don't mill it enough, it will be obvious and look like 'glitter'. Products from Christopher Drummond Beauty, like Saúde Pele ($85, christopherdrummond.com), are so finely milled that you literally can't see there is "shimmer"--even men use it because it 'melts' and blends into the skin. When the mica is finely milled, it will give your skin that radiant look, without looking oily and greasy.

Is the 'glowy' look for every season? Is there any time that you don't want your skin to look healthy and beautiful? I always apply Saúde Pele...it improves the overall look of the skin of the woman I'm using it on. However, I find in the winter, it works wonders because when we don't have much sun exposure our skin looks ruddy and unhealthy.

How does a girl get the glowy look? It's very simple. Cleanse and moisturize the skin and wait a few minutes for the moisturizer to absorb. Then, apply Saúde Pele radiance booster (remember, less is more!) very lightly with your flat top brush. Concentrate on the cheek bones and forehead. Then, apply your powder foundation. This gives the perfect balance of "glow" with oil absorbing properties, so you won't look "shimmered to death". It simply makes your skin look glowing and beautiful. Plus it has Acai, Green Tea, and other great ingredients to help promote healthy skin from deep down.

Is this look appropriate for the office? Absolutely. I created my products for any woman to wear anytime. This is not the "high-glam" makeup women are used to. It's created to improve the look of your skin, while at the same time being good for it...it promotes healthier, more radiant skin.....and not just on the surface level!!!

text-align: center; display: block;" width="500" height="332" />Lifetime Digital, the ultimate digital source for women's entertainment, escape and play, MySpace and The Weinstein Company today launched the Models of the Runway Casting Challenge, a nationwide online casting competition that will give one woman the opportunity to be selected as a model in an upcoming season of Lifetime Television's Models of the Runway, the all-new companion series to the hit unscripted program Project Runway.

Lifetime Television and The Weinstein Company are searching for an aspiring model to become one of the contestants on Models of the Runway to compete to win prizes that may include cash and a national modeling opportunity. Models of the Runway, which follows the models' lives "behind the seams" of Project Runway, currently airs Thursdays at 11pm ET/PT.

Beginning yesterday, hopeful models can enter the Models of the Runway Casting Challenge on myLifetime.com, MySpace at www.myspace.com/modelsoftherunway or ProjectRunway.com, where they can complete an online application and upload an introductory video and three photos of themselves. They will also be required to submit other materials, including a brief essay that outlines why they feel they deserve to be on Models of the Runway and how, if selected, it would change their lives. Functionality for Models of the Runway Casting Challenge will be provided by leading online interactive casting site GotCast.com.

"We are very excited to let America help us cast Models of the Runway," said Dan Suratt, Executive Vice President, Digital Media and Business Development, Lifetime Networks. "It's a natural fit to work with MySpace on this competition to reach a broader audience for both programs, effectively promote the Models of the Runway Casting Challenge and potentially find fashion's next supermodel."

"MySpace empowers its community to discover great content and share it with their friends," said Jason Kirk, Vice President of Video and Entertainment for MySpace. "We're thrilled to see how the Models of the Runway community on MySpace will socialize and share this unique content."

"The Project Runway brand continues to seek untapped talent in new and creative ways, and we are thrilled to be going viral with the Models of the Runway Casting Challenge," said Barbara Schneeweiss, Vice President, TV and Film Production and Development at The Weinstein Company. "It allows us to incorporate the fans directly into the selection process, giving them the opportunity to participate in the show that they love so much."

The winner of the Models of the Runway Casting Challenge will be selected from a multiple round, online voting process in conjunction with guidance from the Program's producers and Lifetime during the final stage of the competition. Call for entries and the first round of voting on myLifetime.com, MySpace and ProjectRunway.com will end September 20, 2009, when the challenge's contestant pool will be reduced by approximately 25%. Remaining contestants will be required to provide additional videos and information to secure more online votes to advance to the third round. The Models of the Runway Casting Challenge contestants will then be put through the next round of online voting, with five prospective models scheduled to be announced on October 31, 2009. The winner will be unveiled in November of this year.

The sixth season of Project Runway made its long awaited return to television on Lifetime on August, 20, 2009, when it became the highest-rated premiere for the series ever and in the Network's 25-year history. Models of the Runway also performed well in its debut, averaging 1.9 million Total Viewers.

Photo Credit: Kannie Yu LaPack, Lifetime Entertainment Services
