If you don’t want to be basic Betty this fall while sipping your pumpkin spiced latte, allow me to introduce to you the 5 shades you need in order to really stand out this season. Wait, so you’re in shock that ‘wicked’ polish from Essie is no longer in style? Well, welcome to fall style 2.0. From Nails to Lips, to Shadows, I’ll cover everything you need.
Let’s start off with a little lip action. For some reason, people think throwing on a dark lip and stepping out of the house makes you magically trendy, but in reality, all it does is makes your skin look ashy while scaring every and any attractive man on the street. That’s right, ladies, men don’t want us to look like we’re wearing Halloween makeup while standing in line at Starbucks. Shocking. This fall, opt for a little bit of a lighter lip. Anything with warm undertones would be perfect! It will warm up your face without scaring your neighbors or their children. I specifically created a gloss for this called “Spiced Latte” which can be found here. You’re welcome.
Next, let’s cover shadow. Eyeshadow is one of my personal favorite product because it can completely transform your look. Wearing a dark eye will instantly make you look edgier while wearing something light will scream “I’m a natural beauty.” (Just like Kim K). This fall, it’s all about dusty roses, burnt oranges, and shimmery browns. There’s a method to this madness, allow me to explain. The worst part about coming into Fall means Summer is over and we can kiss our perfectly even tans goodbye. Which means our skin loses most if not all of its warm tanned goodness. Our goal is to add it back to your face by using shimmery-bronzed shadows on the lid, with a burnt orange matte or matte dusty rose on the crease. Warm undertones are our friend! If you’re not one for shimmer, turn your crease products into lid products by using “Matte Roses” single shadow on the lid with a burnt orange shade like “teaser” in the crease and you will be ready to conquer the world. Find them here and show your eyes (and wallet) some love. Our prices are almost impossible to beat. Thank me later.
Last but not least, nails. If you haven’t noticed by now I’m not a huge fan of the sangria/plums for fall, I prefer them much more toward the winter months. With that being said, I still enjoy a dark polish. Go for a deep mauve or a grey toned polish. These colors will show you’re aware of the seasonal change without being so BAM in your face about it. Wearing a plum polish a week after you came back from Hawaii is like wearing Uggs the second it hits below 70 degrees. It’s a little too aggressive. Try colors like OPI “Vamsterdam” or Essie’s “Cashmere Bathrobe”, these will do the trick!
With that being said, what have we learned? Our go-to 5 fall must-haves are warm toned oranges, browns, taupes, pinks, and greys. Follow this guide like it’s the beauty bible and go slay this season, one spiced pumpkin latte at a time.
