Though I used to be skeptical about taking them, I now look forward to having enough time to run a bath for myself. But it can’t just be any plain bath. A good atmosphere is critical for relaxation when setting up your soak. The right preparation starts before you even get in and doesn’t end until you decide to go back into the reality of your hectic life.
Creating Your Perfect Bath ZEN

Before Getting Into The Bath
Set the mood with music. Play soothing music to help your body and mind feel de-stressed. It doesn’t matter whether its spa music or some of your favorite pop songs that are slow and not too loud - as long as it relaxes you.
Light candles. Instead of turning on your bright bathroom lights which are harsh on your eyes, scatter some candles around your bathroom and light them for the perfect ambience. Not only do they improve the lighting, but choosing scented candles can add to the relaxing environment with their soothing fragrances.
Find the right temperature. Warm baths are ideal for soothing the body. Be sure to test the temperature of the water with your wrist before stepping in. And don’t forget to leave enough space in the tub in case the water is too hot or cold, in which case you can add a bit more to balance the temperature.
Get rid of distractions. Turn your cell phone on silent and try to avoid interruption to get the best experience out of your bath time.
In The Bath
Use scented bath oils. Add a few drops into the water for it to smell amazing - and you’ll smell like it as well once you get out. Floral scents such as lavender, jasmine and rose are relaxing and fragrant without being overwhelming.
Opt for a body scrub. Gently massage with a sponge and body scrub to focus on your bath instead of the many things you need to get done after you get out - plus you’ll be getting rid of old, dry skin and be left with soft skin instead.
Try a bath bomb. If you’re looking to be more adventurous in your bath atmosphere, pick up a bath bomb at Lush or similar stores. There are several options filled with essential oils and flower petals. They fizz when you put them in the water and give you the perfect Insta opportunity because of how adorable they are!
If you’re sore, use a bath salt. These muscle relaxants are ideal after a strenuous workout to soothe your body as you relax your mind. They also reduce swelling and inflammation while increasing circulation - if that’s what you need.
Treat your face. Make the most of your bath time by applying a face mask while you’re soaking. Keep it on for the desired length, and then remove with a wet washcloth, you won’t even have to leave the tub!
Keep your eyes closed. Put cucumbers over your eyes, for example, to encourage yourself not to open your eyes and glance around the room to see if your cell lit up from a text.
After Getting Out
Find the right towel or bath robe. Don’t let the comfort of a perfect bath end when you get out of the water. Get a plush robe or fluffy towels that feel soft and warm to extend your relaxation.
Continue relaxing. Resist the urge to immediately check your phone or other devices. Instead, make yourself a cup of tea and read that book you’ve been dying to start for ages but have been telling yourself you’re too busy - now’s the time.
