Finally, Fall is here!! According to the calendar anyways. None the less, I want to scream it from the rooftops! I do find myself breaking a slight sweat come 1 pm, here in the great state of Louisiana however. For those of you not in the South, I am jealous of you! Now, I don’t know about y’all but I am just a happier person come Fall. The combination of the smell of fall, the breeze outside, the gorgeous leaves, EVERYTHING! Literally, I love everything. So, if the weather is true to the season or not you can still celebrate the change of season by scenting your home with this joyful aroma. No, you are not going and grabbing an air freshener… we are taking to the stove-top with homemade potpourri!
The Good Stuff
1 handful of cinnamon sticks
1 orange rind
2 tablespoons of whole cloves
3-5 bay leaves
1 apple sliced in half
How To
You have options here! You can use the stove-top or a crock pot. If you use the stove-top you will have to be more careful to keep an eye on it, especially if it is gas. A crock pot you have a little more freedom with. Whichever one you choose, the smell will be the same! You want to fill your pot with water, add the ingredients and let simmer! Boom, you’re done!
Is this not the easiest thing you’ve ever seen? It is way cheaper than a fancy air freshener, has way less chemicals, and smells so REAL. I promise you there is no smell like homemade potpourri. This is perfect for a lazy Sunday or when you are expecting guests. Your house will be fragrant all day! Have you tried to make homemade potpourri? Let me know by leaving a comment below!
