Everyone loves a good night out. A group of friends, a few drinks, and a lot of memories are something to look forward to. But as enjoyable going out may be, it can also take a toll on your skin, especially during the warmer months. In preparation for spring break, whether you are going to Puerto Vallarta with hundreds of your ‘closest’ friends or going on a more low key vacation with a smaller group, you may be looking for some tips to keep your skin glowing after drinking. Nursing a hangover is brutal enough without the added effects on your skin. So after a night of going out (or a full week), here are a few recommendations to rejuvenate your skin.
#1
Drink water
It’s a widely known fact that consuming alcohol dehydrates you. It’s important to stay hydrated before, while and after drinking. When out for drinks, try to alternate alcoholic drinks with a glass of water to prevent dehydrating effects. The next day, keep yourself extra hydrated as well.
#2
Moisturize
With dehydration comes noticeable skin dryness. To counter this effect, make sure to keep your skin hydrated with a moisturizing lotion. Make sure to use a more lightweight moisturizer on sensitive areas such as your face, since heavier types can clog pores. Specific facial moisturizers also offer added benefits such as anti-aging, anti-acne, and sun protection.
#3
Face Masks
If you’re looking for a fun way to moisturize, try a face mask! They’re perfect for a when you have some down time with a group of friends, or on your own. You can buy a premade mask, or make your own like this banana facial mask. All you need to do is mash up a ripe banana into a paste and combine with ¼ cup of plain yogurt and 2 tablespoons of honey. Apply it to your face and neck and after about fifteen minutes, rinse it off with cold water. It’s all natural, super easy and makes for a very cute Insta selfie.
#4
Exfoliate
Grab a gentle exfoliating cleanser to get rid of dead skin and leave your skin looking more radiant and photo ready. Make sure to rinse using cold water as it is much more hydrating than hot water and helps close pores.
#5
Drink Tea
Green tea is not only beneficial for weight loss, it can also eliminate puffy under eyes which are an obvious sign of a night out drinking. Simply soak two tea bags in hot water, remove them and place in the fridge for a few minutes and apply to your eyes for five minutes to refresh.
You don’t have to drink on a night out, but if you choose to do so, make sure to repair any damages and keep your skin and yourself healthy!
Need a morning pick-me-up after your night out? A Bloody Mary can definitely hit the spot and relieve a bit of your weariness.
