We have all been at a point when there is some new trend you love and must add it to your collection. But when you try to decide what to wear it with… you’re stumped and have absolutely no idea how to style it! This happened to me when I got a suede skirt. I had been obsessing over them for months and finally pulled the trigger; these have been such a big trend this season and for good reason! Suede skirts are so cute and perfect for this in-between transitioning season. But when I got mine I had absolutely no idea what to wear with it! So I started putting pieces together to see what I thought worked and what didn’t. Here are my guidelines for wearing these chic skirts:
Guidelines for Styling a Suede Skirt
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Vests
Vests are my all-time favorite accessory and an unexpected pair for a suede skirt. My mom and I have always helped each other in picking out our outfits in the morning, we did this every day when I was in high school. She actually was the one who suggested pairing a simple white long sleeve top with a vest. I wore a fur vest but a shearling vest would still look great! If it is a little cooler outside then this will keep you warmer.
Off the shoulder
For the girls with more of a boho chic style, a tucked in off the shoulder top would do the trick. This is the perfect transition look, not too summery or wintery but suits the crazy weather we’ve been having. I personally like white with this specific type of skirt but this is totally up to your preference, sometimes you just have to try different options on and see what looks best and suits your style.
Crop top
A suede skirt and crop top is probably the most common combo I’ve seen, and for good reason. Since the skirt hits higher on the waist most crops tops just touch the top of the skirt and gives it a great look. No need for tucking in and it can be very flattering. Even throwing a cardigan over this would be darling!
Boots
Picking out shoes was the easiest part of this outfit for me. For the colder days brown boots are always a go. I love my riding boots and for those chillier days it is so much warmer and still looks great and put together.
Peep toe sandals
So I have recently been obsessing over the peep toe sandals! I think these would be the most perfect shoe to finish off this look for the warmer days and will transition into spring. They are such a cute and fun completion to an outfit like this.
Sometimes trying to style a trendy piece can be really challenging, you don’t really know how to wear it once you get it. The best thing to do is let your creativity shine and just start pairing things together and see what looks good. It is always a good idea to get other people’s opinions because having a different viewpoint might lead you to an outfit you would never have thought to put together.
