Katarina Nilsson is making life and business a pleasure. She is the quintessential modern day Superwoman. She’s running three successful businesses that stretch from abstract painting to coaching classes and name development for clients such as H&M and Electrolux. She’s also a full-time single mom and loving every minute of it. But of course, life hasn’t always been as peachy for Ms. Nilsson.
In fact, her journey to the big league started pretty much from the bottom. After a few hectic years as a young, shooting star in the naming business (name creation for new companies and products), she hit a wall trying to deal with all her clients and an inevitable divorce all at the same time. The fact that she was also pregnant didn’t make things easier.
Ready to Rise Again
When we fall, we all have our own way of getting back on the horse. For Katarina, the answer was art. When everything seemed completely hopeless she took up her long lost love of abstract painting – a choice that would change both her private and business life forever.
Before she knew it, Katarina had enough creations for a whole exhibition and felt it was time to embark on a new adventure with an art show of her own. It took place in central Stockholm, Sweden, and was an instant success. Not only did people show up at the exhibition, they liked her work and actually bought the paintings! Having found her inner creative force once again, she realized it could also be of great use in the naming business.
The same year as her son was born, her own naming agency Eqvarium also saw the light of day. The tools and points of view she could offer filled a void and soon large companies and corporations lined up to get creative input from “the naming lady.”
Travelling the World
Katarina is also a certified Joy of Business facilitator and a self-development coach. She facilitates classes for companies and individuals that wish to make positive change and learn how to find joy in their lives and work through creation. Many times her different businesses overlap and interact, which also proves her main point – by doing what you love in life, new possibilities, joy, and wealth (of different sorts) will come your way.
Katarina’s schedule is always full. She’s currently traveling the world, both as a lecturer on naming for companies and different Universities and as a creative coach. Her son often travels with her. So what’s the key to finding harmony when everything happens at the speed of lightning?
Her answer is simple – I’m having fun. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
