The summer sun gifts us with our long-awaited golden tan, but we’re forced to pay its price with the dry and blotchy skin it leaves us with. That is why it is important to make a habit of treating our skin with the constant care that it deserves by learning some DIY face mask recipes. If you’re anything like me, you might be scared to experiment on your own precious face and would rather rely on a fancy salon to give you a facial. However, these face mask recipes are so incredibly simple and easy, plus they each only require 1-3 all natural, good-for-you ingredients that you might already have in your kitchen. So, this summer is the perfect opportunity to turn your house into a spa with these 3 simple face mask recipes for you to try.
Moisture Mask
After spending a day on the beach under the sun and in the salty ocean, your skin will surely be dry and parched. Try out this deeply moisturizing face treatment for an instantly soft and smooth face (and try not to eat it all before it even reaches the surface of your face).

1 tablespoon raw honey
1/2 avocado, pitted and mashed
- In a small bowl, mix ingredients together into a paste.
- Apply to freshly cleansed skin and let it sit for 15-30 minutes.
- Remove gently with warm water and a washcloth.
Note: You can find milled chia at a health food store or you can grind chia seeds at home using a food processor or a coffee mill until you get a coarse flour-like texture.
Exfoliating Nutty Face Scrub
Exfoliating is an absolute must! Slough off those dead skin cells sitting on the outer layer of your skin with this gentle exfoliating scrub. It will leave you with a silky soft and glowy finish.

Ice Your Face
If you have an event or dinner at night but are exhausted after a long day outdoors or at work, your skin could surely use a pick-me-up. This method might seem too easy for it to be effective, but you would not believe how much it shakes you out of that tired state. Not only does it refresh your skin, but it also tones the skin while serving as a great primer for your makeup.
- Cleanse skin.
- Put an ice cub in a soft gauze cloth and when the cloth is damp, apply to the face.
- Go over the different parts of the face for one minute.
- Follow with your skincare.
Especially during the summer when you want to wear as little face makeup as possible, it is so important to keep your face feeling and looking healthy and spotless. So, it’s time to give your skin the TLC it needs and deserves with these fabulous DIY face masks.
