I have to be honest…mornings are a struggle for me. I would rather extend my beauty sleep instead of catching the worm. Since I am in school, early mornings are something I have to conquer everyday (except my beloved Saturdays). Because there is just no way to get around the alarm clock, I have decided to become more of a morning person with these tips:
Listen to music
Music makes everything better, even in the early morning hours. Play your favorite upbeat music while getting dressed.
Drink coffee
Coffee is a must in my morning! Sip coffee as you get ready or if you have time, sit and reflect. The smell of coffee alone will motivate you to wake up.
Stretch
As soon as you get out of bed, do a few stretches to wake your body. Starting your day with stretches or exercise is a good way to get your body and mind ready for a school, work, or even a leisure day.
Watch your favorite morning show
If I am not playing music, I love to watch my favorite news shows. I keep up with current events and prepare for the daily morning gossip with the coworkers and friends
Prepare the night before
There is nothing worse than being rushed in the mornings. It puts me in a bad mood, and I feel stressed the rest of the day. Avoid a situation like this by choosing your clothes, packing your bag, or preparing your lunch the night before. It makes the mornings less stressful and you will be able to get out of the door quicker.
Eat a good breakfast
Eating breakfast gives you energy to get your day going. Whether it is a quick bowl of cereal or a plate of eggs, make sure it is filling so you will not feel sluggish all day.
Use these tips to kick start your early mornings and hopefully genuinely enjoy waking up. Remember, if none of these suggestions turn you into a morning person, we always have the weekends and multiple hits on the snooze button to look forward to!
