Your wardrobe says a lot about you and the image that you portray. This is especially true in the workplace. Having a work wardrobe that says you are confident and respectable is essential.
Your work wardrobe is a big part of the first impression you give to your boss, colleagues, and clients. It is always a good idea to review your job’s handbook about the attire in the workplace. If you are still unsure, dress to impress! Especially if it is your first day, it is better to be overdressed and appropriate, than underdressed.
While every workplace is different, there are basic pieces that you can never have enough of. Here are a few essentials every girl needs in her work wardrobe:
Blouses
Blouses are a girl’s best friend in the workplace. They are usually made of quality material and look more formal. This top goes well with the ultimate two piece suit, or it can stand alone with a pencil skirt. Always make sure your blouse has some sort of sleeve whether it is short or long. If your top does not have sleeves, pair it with a cardigan or blazer.
Skirts
Your work wardrobe needs a good pencil skirt. They look appropriate, but also feminine at the same time. Basic colors such as khaki, black, and grey are great year round and never go out of style. Avoid skirts that are extremely tight and short. You want to feel comfortable while working.
Pants
The dress pant comes in many different styles from wide leg to skinny. Find the pair that fits your body and style the best. Avoid pants that are extremely too long or short. Also be mindful of the low rise waist. Basic colors are also great for these bottoms as well.
Shoes
Heels are great for those pencil skirts and dress pants. They tie your whole outfit together and give you a boost of confidence along with some height. Closed toed heels are best for the workplace. Avoid heels that are too bright or have sequins. These fit more in the club scene rather than the office. Choose heels that are versatile with every outfit. You can never go wrong with black leather and patent nude. If heels are not your thing, nice ballet flats are also appropriate. Stay away from sandals, flip flops, or tennis shoes. These shoes do not look dressy and are only appropriate for those “casual Fridays” in the office.
Accessories
One of the best accessories a girl in the workplace can have is a great bag. We’ve got some awesome reversible bags in our shop! Choose one in a basic color that is big enough to carry your lap top or files needed when you are on the go. Jewelry is also a great accessory. A nice watch goes great with all workplace attire and is also functional. You can never go wrong with pearls. Whether it is earrings, a bracelet, or a necklace, pearls are the definition of classy in the workplace. Another great accessory that is probably more of a necessity: a great cup of coffee.
The biggest essential to your work wardrobe is confidence. Your wardrobe does not define you, but it will show others how you define yourself in the workplace.
BROOKE! You look PHENOMENAL!!!!
