Lean in close ladies, I want to tell you the secret to mastering the art of perfect lips, just like the pros. How do these makeup gurus and celebrities always have the perfect pout? Why can’t I get mine to look like that, you ask? Perfect lips are no longer attainable only by the professionals. Here are the most sought after tips and tricks, guaranteed to have your lips looking nothing short of perfect!
Exfoliate and Moisturize: Those lips need some TLC too!
One of the best ways to exfoliate the lips is by brushing them with your toothbrush! Yes, you read that right and no that is not weird. Not only does this save you an extra step in your beauty routine but it is gentle enough to do the job. You don’t want to use anything that is too rough or has harsh chemicals. Just water on your toothbrush will do the trick! Those lips are fragile so treat them accordingly!
Here is another tip that doesn’t add an extra step to your beauty routine. When you moisturize your face make sure to cover your lips too. You should always moisturize your lips after exfoliating! They need moisture on the new skin that is left after the dead skin was scrubbed away. If you moisturize before you put your makeup on make sure you let your moisturizer dry before applying another product. Bonus points if you are using a moisturizer with sunscreen, lips burn too! However there is no need to use a moisturizer with SPF before bedtime.
Primer: Prepare a perfect canvas for those lip products!
You should be using a primer already, if not you are doing the makeup thing wrong! Primer creates a buffer between your product and your skin as well as fills in fine lines and wrinkles so that your product doesn’t crease. Your lips need this too. So, when you apply your primer make sure to lather those lips too! Just like before, let them dry before applying product!
Fuller Lips: Yes, even your lips can look full!
White eyeliner should be your beauty bestie if it isn’t already. It has so many uses. Find out for yourself by trying this tip on your lips! Draw the white liner on the middle of your lips. It should look like a little square of white in the middle of your lips. This will draw the eye to the middle of the lips and when paired with our next tip, this will create the illusion of full lips!
Lip liner in whatever color you choose should be applied as normal. However, fill in the outsides of the lips that are not colored white. This looks weird right now but magic happens when you apply your lipstick, lip gloss, lip stain, etc.
Next apply whatever lip color of your choosing in whatever form of your choosing! Of course, you want to choose a color that compliments your lip liner, this way the illusion will of fuller perfect lips will work.
After you have applied your face makeup (your lips should be last anyways) dust a little bronzer under the middle of your lower lip. This will create the illusion that your lips are so full they are creating a shadow!
Removing your makeup: Yes, You HAVE to do it before you go to bed.
Your skin will thank you and reward you for treating it right. Make sure you remove your makeup and moisturize! Slather those lips so they can be ready for tomorrow! No need to exfoliate more than once a day! If you notice that your lips are already smooth, cut back your exfoliating to every other day, you don’t want to over exfoliate. Over exfoliating can lead to sore lips that lack the nutrients they naturally produce because of over-washing and over-scrubbing.
