Summer Glow: 5 Tips for Healthy Skin

Spring weather is quickly approaching and we know what that means…summer is right around the corner! With the past few months of harsh winter weather, our skin needs some re-boosting in order to get ready for summer sun and summer fun.

We all know that moisturizing is key to maintaining skin that looks and feels radiant all year long. However, these next few tips will have you re-thinking the way you treat your skin. Mixing up the daily routine might not be a bad idea after all. Our skin is part of our body, meaning we must treat it that way. Give it what it wants and it will do the same for you!

Tips to Try for Healthy Skin:

Exfoliate! I cannot stress this enough. Exfoliation is the main factor to ensure smooth, glowing skin. It also allows toxins to be removed from the skin for a nice, summer shine. Try Clinique exfoliating scrub for some of the best results! Only $21 for calm, clean skin.

Hydrate! Another very, very, very important aspect when maintaining summer skin. Make sure to moisturize after washing: morning and night. This can be one of the most important parts of a skin care routine, especially when spending time in the hot summer sun.

Sunscreen! Even though this should be a no brainer, many people forget sunscreen even exists. It is not only important in protecting precious skin barriers, but also in preventing wrinkles and early aging. The sun can be dangerous, but applying sunscreen every one to two hours will help the damage tremendously.

H20! Drink water as much as you can! Often times dehydration stands at the root of summer skin problems. It can leave skin dry, dull, and itchy. So do not forget to drink at least two liters of water a day. If you are out in the sun, try to drink even more!

Treat the skin! As in, if sun damage does occur, do not forget to repair. Any form of sunburn can be painful. In order to combat the red, tender skin, use aloe or some home remedies. These include applying a cool compress, milk, or even yogurt to the skin.

Although there are several things that can be done to help protect skin, these five seem to be the most important. As the summer creeps up on us, keep these in mind. Your skin will thank you later!
